Change control and change management

This section examines the critical importance of having a robust change control and change management process in place at project commencement, and the risks of this not being in place.

It begins by outlining successful change control systems and the procedures to adequately implement these. There is then a particular focus on change control on NEC projects, with practical examples of a change event schedule and an example of target cost contract final account calculation later provided.

In short, successful contracts are underpinned by resilient processes and the right people in the right roles to deliver them. Change control and management is therefore one of the key ingredients for a successful contract and a successful project.
