Asset management

Infrastructure asset management focuses on maximising the value of infrastructure assets (from railways to bridges to superfast broadband networks) over the course of their life cycle, for the benefit of asset owners, stakeholders and end users. This section provides an overview of this discipline in a manner intended to be approachable and meaningful to surveyors, APC students and other practitioners.

It begins by establishing important background information such as how the discipline emerged, before giving an account of asset management as it relates to surveying. It then moves on to outline the core standards and guidance documents operating in this area, before addressing related methods and the kind of technology that may be used to enhance asset management systems.
